About Me

The Strange Case Company is the creative outlet of BAFTA award-winning designer, Jamie Durrant. Established in 2009, the company produces a unique range of prints that blend striking imagery with counterintuitive design and intricate details.

Inspired by mysterious objects and the stories that can weave them together, Durrant originally launched the company to create cabinets of curiosities filled with exotic collections of Victorian memorabilia. While these creations are highly sought after, they can only be produced in small numbers. To make his work accessible to a wider audience, Durrant distilled the ethos of the cabinets into a series of two-dimensional artworks.

The Strange Case Company’s prints continue the tradition of cataloguing, categorizing, and displaying the obscure and the reimagined. Drawing from a range of eclectic and esoteric influences, Durrant takes historical or recognizable objects and overlays them with unexpected motifs that challenge the viewer to look again at visual tropes.

Durrant’s work is defined by a modern, playful aesthetic and coolly executed design, influenced by his successful career in video game and museum animatronics design. With the recent championing of the company by TV presenter Jonathan Ross, The Strange Case Company is becoming known for its tongue-in-cheek retro styling, blending British patriotism with eccentricity.

Based in North Walsham, Norfolk, Jamie Durrant’s work fuses playful creativity, counterintuitive design, and intricate details to create something truly unique.
